$1,500 First Place Keyboard (Piano/Organ) Mildred Volentine Green Scholarship
$1,000 Second Place Keyboard
$1,500 First Place VoicePenelope Cunningham Scholarship
$1,000 Second Place Voice Dr. Oscar and Ellen Dahlene Scholarship
$1,500 Instrumental Stuart Mims Scholarship
$1,000 Second Place Instrumental
$1,000 Best Performance Award selected from the Three First Place WinnersWalter Sechriest Award, which is an additional $1,000 for an overall winner.
Judges will select First and Second Place winners in each category and have the discretion to not make an award in a category if they feel it is not warranted. No student who has won first place in any previous year will be eligible to compete again.
Winners must use the award during the 2016-2017 academic year for undergraduate work in the above fields at an accredited college in the State of Alabama. The maximum age for contestants is 23 years. More information on www.birminghammusicclubguild.org
Applications should be completed in full and mailed to Elaine Clark, P.O. Box 381743, Birmingham, AL 35238, with check or money order of $25.00 (payable to the Guild of the Birmingham Music Club). Applications must be received or postmarked by February 18, 2016. All auditions are in person; tape recordings cannot be accepted. First Place Winners will be honored and will perform on the Program of the Spring Luncheon for the Guild on Friday, April 8, 2016. Failure to participate may result in forfeiture of the scholarship award.
